Evans Leads Strong as Hyundai Fights Back

​The third day of the 2025 Safari Rally Kenya presented competitors with a mix of challenges and breakthroughs, leading to significant shifts in the standings.​

Elfyn Evans continued his commanding performance, maintaining his lead in the rally. Despite the unpredictable terrain, Evans showcased consistency and skill, keeping his Toyota Yaris WRC at the forefront. Meanwhile, Hyundai’s drivers exhibited notable improvements. Ott Tänak, recovering from earlier setbacks, delivered competitive stage times, while Thierry Neuville overcame previous day’s challenges to climb the ranks.

Kalle Rovanperä faced a significant hurdle when his Toyota Yaris WRC suffered rear-left suspension damage during the day’s stages. This mechanical issue led to a considerable loss of time, pushing him down to fifth position. Takamoto Katsuta also encountered difficulties, with various incidents hindering his progress and affecting his overall standing.

Grégoire Munster made headlines by setting the fastest time in one of the day’s stages, showcasing his potential and skill. Additionally, Oliver Solberg delivered an impressive performance in the final stage, recording the third-best overall time, underscoring his competitiveness in the rally.

The WRC2 category witnessed a fierce contest between Jan Solans and Gus Greensmith. Both drivers demonstrated exceptional pace and determination, with Greensmith managing to edge ahead of Solans by 5.8 seconds, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion in the upcoming stages.

As the Safari Rally Kenya approaches its final day, drivers and teams remain vigilant, anticipating the challenges that the demanding African terrains may still present.
